Submersed Cities
The Submerse Cities Project, directed by professors Lise Sedrez and Andrea Casa Nova Maia, analyzes the main urban flood in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro between the years 1900 and 1970. Making use of environmental history and oral history, the Project investigate the relations between the flooding and governance, the urbanization process of these cities, their social impacts and the narratives that come through these events.
LABHE
The History and nature Lab takes place biweekly on Thursdays, from 2pm to 4pm at the History Institute of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Directed by professores Lise Sedrez and José Augusto Pádua, the lab focus on a broad specrum of themes connceting nature and society.
Rede Brasileira de História Ambiental The Brazilian Enviromental History Network was established in 2007 to facilitate communications between government, business, cultural and scientific institutions and independent scholars. Since its foundation, it has expanded to include all states in Brazil and Latin America, and there are members in a range of other countries with interests in Brazil environmental history. Anyone researching environmental history in all or any of its many manifestations is welcome to join the e-mail list. |
